Responsible business practice
Every little helps in the battle against climate change. By taking responsibility for the environmental impacts of your organisation you will be taking a positive step towards tackling global warming.
Economic imperative
Until now many have considered the issue of climate change the realm of government and big business. However, all businesses are increasingly measured against environmental and social as well as economic indicators and consumers are placing greater emphasis on the environmental credentials of their suppliers.
Building reputation
Ethical businesses are increasingly building market share and attracting the best employees. A company that is perceived by its clients, its shareholders, its employees and its potential employees to be taking action on climate change will enhance its reputation and build its credentials as an ethical business that takes responsibility for its impacts.
Competitive edge
Many mature markets are over-commoditised and competing predominantly on price. By buying green you are taking responsibility for the impacts of your business at the same time as developing a significant point of difference from your competitors. |

There are 3 distinct levels of being "Business Green":
 |
Level 1 = "Root Level":
At this level, you are buying green. Buying from us means that you pay the same, or less, to buy green. See below (or go straight there).
Level 2 = "Branch Level": At this level, you are utilising our software solution to deliver full visibility and control of spend throughout the organisation and reducing spend, in line with Reduce - Reuse - Recycle business philosophy. See below (or go straight there).
Level 3 = "Canopy Level": At this
level, you are encouraging your clients/customers/supporters
to buy green. You can start a green
business network and we can even offer you a branded web portal (e.g. www.GuestCompany.YourCompany.greenbasket.biz) See below (or go straight there).

For a handy guide on how to (a) set up a green business network if you are an SME or (b) demonstrate green leadership and take green action, you can download the following PDF files: (No Adobe®
Reader? Download it here ).

LEVEL 1 - "Root” Level • Buy Green
Over 1,600 office products, covering the following categories:
Stationery (paper, envelopes, books & pads, files, pockets & binders, pens, pencils, etc.)
Facilities Management (canteen, janitorial, mailroom/warehouse, safety/security, etc.)
Furniture (office furniture, coat stands, plants, pictures, etc.)
Electronic Office Supplies (office machines, machine supplies, ink & toner cartridges, etc.)
All major brands (as well as own brand) are represented as well as value added brands, such as Cartridge World, Armor and Remarkable.
We compare the prices of every green product we stock… some products have no non-green alternative..
Of the remaining 1,588 products, 1,474 (92.8%) are the same, or a lower, price than their non-green alternative… and since our aim is that business should not pay more to go green, we will work with you to achieve price parity over your standard basket content.
You buy through a
dedicated portal, branded to your corporate
identity, enabling multiple users to order from separate operational, as well as geographical, locations.
PLEASE NOTE: Our delivery charges are
not hidden in the price you pay (so called "free
delivery")
We do this to show:
[1] Corporate Social Responsibility/Green Leadership – there is a carbon cost involved in delivering goods. We can also provide you with details of the distance/mileage if you wish to offset and you will find carbon calculators at The Carbon Neutral Company web site.
[2] Operational transparency – the
price you pay for your goods is fairly calculated. We do not make money through a delivery charge that is built in across a range of items.

LEVEL 2 - "Branch” Level • Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
As a green company, the first area of focus is
to reduce purchasing spend. This is difficult to do without full
visibility and if purchasing is spread across different companies,
systems, departments, etc..
Our software provides a single
point solution for commodity purchasing, allowing you to manage
spend with other companies (outside
greenaction) .
It utilises "multi-tenant" architecture which can be 'repainted' for individual clients and users, based upon the shared technology. All customers benefit from new developments without the need for bespoke tailoring.
Our software is quick and simple to implement via the internet and does not affect your existing infrastructure.
Prospective clients can evaluate, test and
run our software without having to install anything. This avoids long drawn out software installation, evaluation and implementation cycles.
It is purchased on a subscription basis with a single all inclusive monthly fee.
Existing implementations run alongside or integrate with SAP, Oracle Financials, PeopleSoft, Navision and SunSystems.

LEVEL 3 - "Canopy” Level • Demonstrate Green Leadership
Being an organisation that demonstrates leadership at many levels means that buying green and being green is just a part of the process.
Once you are buying green from the www.greenbasket.biz portal you leverage your organisation’s influence with your clients/customers to get them to also buy green.
We offer 3rd level domain entry for your clients to buy green from you (e.g. www.TheirCompany.Yourcompany.greenbasket.biz
or, if preferred, simply www.TheirCompany.greenbasket.biz).
Pricing matrices are
tailored for each company. We will donate 10% of our gross profit to
a charity of your choice or enter into profit share arrangements
with your company; either way, we recognise and reward your
contribution to helping others buy green.
All clients are set up to receive independent invoicing and delivery to their own business address (unless you want to elect a centralised delivery address within onward distribution via existing channels in order to reduce the carbon footprint).
To support this
process, we help with resources such as awareness material, access to speakers from Defra sponsored consultancies, etc.
